I am starting my second year as a doctoral student (Education) in Hungary. My research proposal was initially based on learning and applying learning to networked improvement communities (NICs), inspired by the work of Stanislas Dehaene and how the work of cognitive science can meet the world of teaching and learning.

In my second year I have refined my research interests to look more closely at cognitive evolution and how it may be changing in an AI world. This shift has been driven by may passion for the work of Merlin Donald who I think is overlooked in the learning world and yet has a lot to say that is important and relevant today. 
 
I have been a school teacher for over 25 years and am deeply interested in how learning theory can be made more accessible and more practical for teachers across ages, stages and countries. My subject specialism is English (both language and literature) and I also focus on teacher training for Primary teachers specialising in English.
